Day 1 - Valletta

Day 2 - Siracuse

Siracuse, Sicily, Italy: Known to English speakers as Syracuse, Siracuse is a breathtaking testament to ancient civilisation. Founded in 734 BC by Greek colonists, it became the largest and wealthiest city-state in the West. Present-day Siracuse features stunning Baroque art, fascinating Greek and Roman ruins, and a legendary Duomo. The two main areas to explore are the Parco Archeologico on the mainland and the enchanting island of Ortygia, connected by small bridges and filled with historical intrigue.

Day 3 - Taormina

Taormina, Italy: The medieval cliff-hanging town of Taormina offers natural beauty despite being overrun with tourists. Views of the sea and Mt. Etna from its cactus-covered cliffs are spectacular, with panoramas close to perfection on clear days. While the boutique-lined streets may tire, the many hiking paths through surrounding hills offer timeless adventure. A visit to nearby Castelmola is highly recommended.

Day 4 - Reggio di Calabria

Reggio di Calabria, Italy: A historic gateway to Sicily, Reggio di Calabria on the mainland is known for its stunning seafront, known as "the most beautiful kilometre in Italy." The city offers access to the famous Riace Bronzes, spectacular views of the Strait of Messina, and a rich Calabrian cultural experience.

Day 5 - Agropoli

Agropoli, Italy: Nestled on the Cilento coast, Agropoli is a charming town where history meets natural beauty. Known for its medieval old town and ancient castle overlooking the sea, it provides a picturesque setting for exploring the surrounding National Park, beautiful beaches, and nearby archaeological sites such as Paestum.

Day 6 - Naples

Naples, Italy: Naples, in Italy's Campania region, offers a spectacular setting along one of the world's most splendid bays, crowned by Mount Vesuvius. Day 8 - Livorno

Livorno, Italy: Livorno is a city of industrial grit and rich history, notably marked by its establishment as a free port. Stroll through markets brimming with local colour and enjoy the remnants of its illustrious days as a 19th-century haven for travellers. With its status as Tuscany's primary port, it offers a vivid snapshot of a working Italian city.
